If you operate an overseas business, have changed jobs, invoice clients or are already in Korea, an income figure is only the starting point. Sanghyun Cho reviews the Korean-law questions and the evidence relevant to your proposed F-1-D application in English.

• Is your work arrangement employment, an operating overseas business, or unaffiliated freelance work?
• How can your records demonstrate at least one year in the same industry?
• What gaps remain in income, insurance, criminal-record or residence evidence?
• Does your current Korean status and expiry date permit the proposed change-of-status timetable?

How the initial review works

• Send a short description, your current country and time zone, and any deadline. Please wait for document-transfer instructions before sending identity documents.
• The attorney checks the requested scope and any conflict of interest, then proposes the review, fee and expected delivery date by email. An English video consultation can be arranged by appointment.
• For an agreed initial review, receive an English summary of the issues, missing documents and recommended next steps. The scope may include a document checklist or an authority-by-authority action plan.
• Fees depend on the records and questions to be reviewed. Any filing, translation, certification, government charges or continuing work is identified separately in the proposal. Sending an inquiry does not start a paid engagement.

Prepare for the review

• Tell us your nationality, current country, intended location in Korea and whether family will accompany you.
• Summarise your employer or business structure, industry history and how you receive income.
• If already in Korea, state your current status and expiry date. Do not put passport or registration numbers in the initial inquiry.
• Identify the questions you want answered and the documents already available. The attorney will specify any further records needed.

What the engagement covers

The initial review is legal advice and an evidence/action plan within the agreed scope. Immigration filing, appearances, lease work, translation and tax work are separate matters. Any representation arrangement and eligibility to perform the particular filing are confirmed before accepting it. Approval and government processing times cannot be promised.
